Round photos, without the fuss

This circle crop tool turns any photo into a clean, round image. Drop in a picture (or take a fresh selfie with your camera), drag the circle over your face, resize it from the corners and download. Save as PNG or WebP and everything outside the circle is transparent, ready to drop into a profile, a slide or a design.

Perfect for profile pictures

Discord, Slack, LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp, Zoom, Teams and most other apps display your avatar in a circle. Cropping it yourself means you decide exactly what’s in frame instead of letting the app chop off your chin. Pick 512 or 1024 pixels for a sharp result everywhere.

Borders and backgrounds

  • Border: add a ring of any colour and thickness to make your picture pop.
  • Transparent: the default for PNG and WebP, ideal for websites and design tools.
  • White or black: fill the corners when you need a square image, or when saving as JPG.

Tips for a great round photo

Leave a little space above your head and keep your eyes roughly in the upper third of the circle. Use a plain background so the edge of the circle looks tidy. If you’re taking a new photo, face a window for soft, even light. There’s more on that in our guide to looking better on camera. Need a rectangle instead? Switch the shape, or usecrop photo.

FAQ

Circle Crop FAQ

How do I crop a photo into a circle?

Upload, drop or paste a photo (or take one with your camera), drag and resize the circle over the part you want, then download. The corners outside the circle are transparent when you save as PNG or WebP.

Why does my circle have a white background?

JPG can’t store transparency, so the corners are filled with white (or the background colour you pick). Choose PNG or WebP to keep a transparent background.

Can I add a border around the circle?

Yes. Use the “Circle border” slider to set the thickness and pick any colour, which is great for profile pictures that stand out.

What size should a profile picture be?

Most platforms show profile pictures small but store them larger. 512 or 1024 pixels is a safe choice for Discord, Slack, LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp and Zoom.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, and the photo never leaves your device.
